One month young!

Month to month baby pictures are really popular right now and I have jumped on the bandwagon:

Okay, so Charlie wasn't so thrilled with the process but I'm sure he'll warm up to it.

Putting together this photo was pretty easy.
First, I made this banner out of left-over scrapbook paper from this project I did.

I cut out rectangles, punched holes using a hole puncher, and strung the paper together with white ribbon. Then, I just taped the banner to the wall behind this little chair in Charlie's nursery.

Positioning him on the chair required an extra set of hands.
Since he is still learning neck control, my mom was nearby to help steady him long enough for me to snap the picture. It wasn't easy and most of the shots he was slumped over so pickings were slim.

After I took the picture, I used PicMonkey, a free photo-editing website I have posted about before here, to add the number and letters to the banner.

There are lots of different ways to do these photos and below are some cute ideas that I've seen:

Layer Cakelet

Young House Love
Mom Tog

Under The Sycamore

Click It Up A Notch

Lastly, below is an adorable month to month collage my wedding photographer did of her son using just her iPhone!
I love how she used those rainbow alphabet magnets.

Looking forward to what's to come in month 2 with Charlie!

Friday Fashion Fix: consider some Converse

While I live in flip flops during the summer, I'm thinking that I need to expand my horizons and consider some Converse sneakers.

I don't think you can go wrong with classic white.

Mint is fun for spring and summer.

Urban Outfitters

And gray goes with almost anything.

I really love these eyelet ones...

...but I'm slightly obsessed with these striped ones, which I can't seem to find online for purchase.
Someone help!

Here's some style inspiration on how to wear them:

In with the old

This past weekend we went back to Jackson, my brother's and sister-in-law's house that I have posted about here and here.

I love going there for the obvious reasons (waterfront views, beach, spending time with family, etc.) but I also love going so that I can see the latest progress they have made on their house.

Even though it is brand spanking new, they have done an amazing job adding a lot of character by incorporating old vintage finds.

This last visit, for example, I was wowed by this old porthole window purchased from Sailor Trading Co. that they installed in the master bathroom shower.

Who wouldn't want a shower with a view like this?

Here's what the window looks like from the outside of the house:

Another place in the house where they tied in the old with the new is in their downstairs bathroom with this copper sink my mom actually found at a garage sale.

It's unique and like the porthole window, the sink adds a lot character to the bathroom.

Thanks Meryl and Sean for another great weekend!

Secondhand sconces

You know the saying "it takes a village"?
Well, that couldn't have been more true around our house during the first couple weeks after having baby Charlie
Not only were we lucky to have lots of family help ease us into parenthood (I think there was a day where I didn't have to change one diaper) but we also had extra hands wanting to help with things around the house including hanging these sconces in our dining room.

They were a garage sale find for just 7 bucks each.
So unbelievably cheap!

My dad, one of our sets of helping hands during those first couple weeks, was able to install them without any problem thanks to existing wiring that was already in place.

I like how the white and brass in the sconces match our Pottery Barn light fixture that I posted about here.

Thank you to Andrea from The Cottage Market for sharing our DIY wire hamper!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
