So long, 2015!

I wanted to squeeze in one last post before 2015 officially comes to a close!
It was another year that totally flew by and it seems like I was just sharing this post last year.
I guess that's a sign of getting older. Time just goes by faster and faster.

It was also a year in which many projects came to fruition, my favorites being our powder bathroom and the playroom (which I have still yet to post a final reveal as the window seat cushions are still being made).

In terms of our personal life, this year was so fun watching our son Charlie grow and celebrating his first birthday. And of course, the recent birth of our second son Sam made the end of this year extra sweet!

As you can imagine, having two kids under two has made life busy!
Completing projects, decorating, and regularly blogging has been tough at times.
I don't want to stop sharing it all together because this blog is my little creative outlet that is a welcomed break from the mommy role. I'll keep posting when I can and notifying you of new posts via Instagram and the blog's Facebook page.

Speaking of Instagram, below is my "2015 best nine" (the photos that received the most "likes" this year):

As always, thank you for following along!
Wishing everyone a very happy and healthy New Year!

Cozy and Christmas-y in the living room

Being that tomorrow is Christmas Eve, I thought I'd share a look around our living room which is feeling festive and cozy.

Instead of using a tree skirt this year, I picked up this wooden tree collar at Home Goods (similar here and here) for our tree.

I kept the mantel extra simple.
Just some stockings (these are new that I found here) and a wreath.

We had to scoot our fiddle leaf fig tree to a different spot to make room for the Christmas tree.
Thankfully, this notoriously sensitive tree doesn't seem to mind its new location!

With a toddler in the house, I have to choose our coffee table accessories very carefully!
When we are playing in this room, I usually move the pointsettias to the mantel.
The branch candle holder (picked up from Home Goods) isn't really breakable but our son does enjoy plucking the candle pillars out.

The plaid throw pillows are from H&M that I bought last year and the white and green ones are very much on sale here (use code HOLIDAYBONUS for an extra 20% off).

Some fresh flowers picked up from the grocery store add some life to our built-ins...

...and a faux fur blanket (purchased here) draped over our garage sale find bench.

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

Charlie's Christmas tree

I've been meaning to share a look at our son's Christmas tree in his nursery for a while now and finally got around to snapping a few pictures.

Ok, clearly I had a bigger part in decorating it than he did.
I'm working on letting go of some of my type A tendencies and swore to myself that next year I would give him full reign to decorate it himself (even if it looks like a hot mess)!

I picked up most of the mini-ornaments at Michael's and made the alphabet letter ornaments (see here) and the paper garland. The fair isle metal basket that the tree sits in is also from Michael's and I found the lights on the tree while shopping at Home Goods. They're those battery-operated mini LED ones.

Thanks for stopping by!

Guest house progress: blues above the bed

I've slowly been putting together a new look for our guest house and have shared the progress along the way here, here, and here.

Most recently, I tackled above the bed.
I decided on these blue seaweed prints from this Etsy shop after seeing them above a friend's bed.
I have them in these simple white frames I picked up at Home Goods.

I'm considering spray painting the frames oil rubbed bronze to pick up on the bed and the hardware on the dressers but laziness might win on that one so they'll probably stay white.
The two under two in our house have me tired!

Have a good night!

Etsy does it

Happy Sunday!
Here's a quick round up of a few things I've recently purchased from Etsy that you might also enjoy...

Our dog Rosie has been wearing the same collar for about 2 years now so we thought it was about time to buy her something nice for the holidays haha!
I love all of the dog collars in this Etsy shop and settled on the chambray and swiss dot one for her.
It's all wrapped up and ready to be gifted to our pup along with a big fat bone.

A friend of mine pointed me to this Etsy shop when I was admiring the artwork she had hanging above her bed. I recently purchased three different versions of it (they have a promo of buy two get one free!) to go above the bed in our guest house. I'll share soon!

Tassels seem to be everywhere from necklaces to keychains.
I recently bought this one for my keys from this Etsy shop and I love it.

During my crazy nesting phase, I turned my husband's closet upside down and reorganized the whole thing.
He needed hooks so I ordered a few of these boat cleats from this shop
Choosing a color was the hard part! I went with navy.
Are we surprised though?

Last week I posted about this felt ball garland that I purchased from this Etsy shop.
You can customize it to the colors you want or choose from pre-made color combinations.
It's so cute and I'm thinking I should order some for the almost finished playroom!

Have you bought something from Etsy that you're happy with?
I'd love for you to share!

A quick thank you to Lindsey over at Better After for featuring our powder room makeover!

Fan of this felt ball garland

If you follow this blog on Instagram, you might remember this picture of this cute felt ball garland that I purchased from this Etsy shop to use on a Christmas tree for Charlie's room:

Yeah...so math isn't my strong suit and I totally didn't order enough to go around the tree so I ended up using something different for garland (will share soon).
Oops.
It's okay though because I found a completely different spot in his room and I love how it looks:

His DIY bookshelves are one of my favorite projects that we've done and the garland adds even more personality to them.

The garland is customizable with so many colors to choose from.
I picked white, frost, cornflower, and gray to match the colors in his nursery.

It's something I'll keep hung up long after the holiday season is over!
