Snug as a bug in a rug

Well, I hoped to have our bedroom complete before baby arrives and even though he isn't here quite yet, I definitely don't foresee us completing this room before then.
That's okay though.
I'm learning to cut myself a break when it comes to our to-do list and having it all perfectly complete.
Perfect is over-rated anyway, right?

So, even though our bedroom isn't finished, we are one step closer since I finally found a rug for the room.

I bought it from Rugs Usa, which has ridiculous coupon codes sometimes up to 80% off (my rug was 70% off), making the prices really affordable.
Where else can you get an 8 x 10 rug for under $200?

It's not the snuggliest of rugs but it isn't crazy uncomfortable either.

If you are in search of a rug, it's worth checking out Rugs Usa.
They have pretty much any rug in any color in any size!

So, what's left for this room?

1. We need to paint (as well as pick a color).
Not the wall that we planked but the other 3 walls as well as freshen up all of the trim and woodwork.

2. I want to hang some window treatments and have been toying with the idea of making some out of painter's drop cloth like these.

3. We need an armoire or long dresser of some sort for one of the walls not pictured below.
Chris may build one or we might try to find one at a tag sale.

A quick thanks to Kammy's Korner for featuring our DIY changing table this week!

Have a great day :)

  3. I'll have to check them out. We are in the market for a living room rug. Though it needs to be extra cushy and soft since it's where Noah will be playing primarily. That's the only concern I have with ordering online is that I can't tell how comfortable it will be. I'm used to wall to wall carpeting so this will be our first experience with buying area rugs. They are so expensive!

by the way, I nominated you for a Liebster award. Check it out http://themeghanandchrisstory.blogspot.com/2014/05/liebster-award.html

    1. Check the reviews, people usually comment as to whether they are soft or not!

  5. I just found you by way of Lauren at Blesser House. The pics of your bedroom lit me up immediately. Those are my colors and that is my style!! I love your room and can't wait to dig into more of your blog. I am looking for a rug for our living room floor and I love the color of yours. When I clicked on the link I saw that it was seagrass. We had a jute rug that left whitish marks where the fringe hung off the end of the pad. Armstrong said they don't recommend any rugs but polypropylene or wool. What has been your experience with this rug so far? Does it stain? Do you have a pad under it? I love natural fiber rugs and I was so sad to let go of my jute rug. Thank you.

    1. Hi Karen! So that post is from last summer and I don't have that rug anymore. The price was good but the quality was not so great. I wrote about what the issue was with it here: http://thepicketfenceprojects.blogspot.com/2015/06/rug-round-up-giveaway.html but to sum it up, when just water got on it, it left a terrible stain. I didn't use a rug pad though with it because the bed kind of anchored it down but a rug pad would have been a good idea. I am really happy with the Pier 1 Imports jute rug that is currently in my living room. My sister has the same one in a different color in her living room as well as my sister-in-law has it in her bedroom. We are all happy with it and recommend it to anyone! It's called the popcorn jute rug. Hope this helps!
