Nursery progress: painting party & Wonder Woman's window treatments

This past weekend we made some more progress in the nursery thanks to some major help from my parents.
For starters, the four of us painted the room literally top to bottom:
ceiling, beams, walls, 3 windows, woodwork, 6 doors, and 2 sets of built-in drawers.
It took practically the whole day and I'm tired just thinking about it.

The color I chose for the walls is called Silver Dust by Behr.
It's a very light color with a hint of gray.
I doubted it at first, thinking it looked too much like white.
But once we painted the trim and ceiling a crisp white, the color stood out more and I love how calming it is.

We also hung up these window treatments that my mom (Wonder Woman) custom made:

Why is she Wonder Woman?
Well, the curtains took her hours to make. And after painting nearly the entire day, she decided to start painting some end tables we are using in the nursery.
I practically had to pry the paintbrush out of her hand.
It's seriously a wonder where she gets the energy.
Mom, I hope I have your energy when I'm your age and I can't wait for you to teach me how to sew this summer!

The fabric I chose for the window treatments is called Circadian II and can be found here.

If you don't have a Wonder Woman of your own to make curtains like these,

Here's a small sneak peek of the room progress:

There's still more to do and I hope to share it with you soon!

  2. I need someone in my life who can make me curtains! We will be moving soon and I will need a lot of window treatments! I wish I could buy fabric rather than store bought curtains! I love the fabric you chose!

  3. Randomly I saw a link-back to my blog from this post...I'm so glad I found your blog because it's amazing. I love your style. Yes, those curtains are much more involved than my DIY cornice boards, but they are stunning! I love it all! New follower! Thanks for the little shot out! :)
