Americana cottage

I recently posted about this DIY American flag art that I painted for our guest house:

Well, it has been hung up and I am happy with how it looks:

In case you couldn't tell, I am going for a rustic Americana look in here.
It is nowhere near finished but here are some pictures of the progress:

I found the faux-leather pillow below on eBay for less than $10.

The striped pillow cases are from Target and the knit pillow shams are Pottery Barn.

Chris is planning on building a new coffee table but for now we are using this one below that I bought at a garage sale for only $20.
It was a dingy yellow, so we painted it and changed the knobs.

How perfect is this coffee table book?
I can't take credit for finding it.
My friend Melissa spotted it for me a couple weeks ago when a few of us were out garage saling.

And that is not the only one she found!
In the same day, she spotted this one for me...

...and this one too!
Each cost less than five bucks.
Thanks Melissa!

This Coca-Cola crate was left behind in our garage when we moved in.
Free accessories!

Although the guest house (like I mentioned earlier) is still in need of lots of decorating,
here are a few other random shots around the place:

I just want to say a quick thank you to all of you that visit this blog as it reached 10,000 page-views this weekend
(not too bad for 3 months).
I look forward to continuing to share our projects with you!

  3. Lovely! Lucky you to have a guest house. I would love to have one some day but for now we make good use of our basement guest suite (that used to be my parent's suite.) I'm happy with how the guest bedroom is coming along but I need to get to work on the small kitchen and sitting area.
