The hunt is ON for a dining room table.
Of course, I'd love to drop a few thousand on a really nice one from Restoration Hardware but last time I checked, money doesn't grow on trees.
Which is shame because there are a whole lot of trees where we live!
I'm not really sure the exact look of the table I want but below are a few that I have pinned on Pinterest:
And I definitely want to get upholstered chairs like these that I've pinned:
So until the dining room table is found, we are using this table below for the time being.
Like most things in our house, it was a garage sale find for just $50.
I wasn't obsessed with how dark it looked with the chairs. There was just too much brown.
Nothing a little Annie Sloan chalk paint can't fix.
The top and base took two coats of Annie Sloan's Old White.
An improvement, I think.
I decided to leave this trim the original color to add some contrast.
I also didn't distress the table too much and instead just focused on the edges.
I can't decide whether the claw feet are cool or creepy!
Either way, I think they definitely look better painted than not.

DeleteYes I sealed the table with Annie Sloan's wax. To be honest, we don't eat at the table everyday (the two of us tend to be lazy and eat at the kitchen butcher block table). Nonetheless, the table has seen some action and is holding up just fine despite being wiped down every once and a while.
