Bartender, pour me another

Something about summer makes me want to play bartender!
So, I've set up this Pottery Barn inspired bar that my husband built as a bar/herb station.

To read about this juicer, you can go here.

I've potted some herbs that I can use in some summer cocktails.

Here are a few recipes:

I'm taking a timeout from the blog today.

Need I say more?

Fiddle me this

Have you seen these fiddle leaf fig trees all over Pinterest?
I have and I'd been wanting one for a while now.

And I had just the spot for it.
This corner in our bedroom was a little bare so what better to fill it with than a fiddle leaf fig tree of my own!

I have the tree in a large woven basket similar to this one here.

I like how it adds a pop of color to our neutral blue and white bedroom and softens the once bare corner.

Now the challenge is keeping this one alive!
That's why I plan on reading these 10 tips for keeping it healthy and happy.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

Friday fashion fix: serious summer sale at Madewell

I love this time of year for many reasons: school's out, trips to the beach, longer days, BBQs, flip flops...just to name a few.
And there are usually major sales going on at a lot of retail stores.

Right now at Madewellfor example, it's an additional 40% off all sale styles.
Don't mind if I do!

Below are a few of my picks from their sale:

silk peplum cami

chambray sunstitch shorts

linen front embroidery tank

baja stripe mini

boxstitch slub top

crochet mix top

embroidered tank

d'orsay flat

eyelet fieldlace cami

irislace top

Happy shopping!

I do! DIY wedding projects

Today Chris and I are celebrating our 3rd year wedding anniversary!
If you haven't seen pictures from our DIY wedding, you can go here.

In the spirit of our anniversary, I'm sharing 5 DIY wedding projects that I'm loving.

1- DIY washi tape escort cards
Washi tape seems to be everywhere now and using it on these tag escort cards is clever and colorful.

Ruffled

2. DIY bunting cake topper
This cake topper is a change from your standard bride and groom figurine.
It can be made with fabric, craft paper, or even wallpaper (now there's a use for those Serena & Lily samples).

Intimate Weddings

3- DIY ribbon wedding ceremony backdrop
This backdrop is unique and would make for some really beautiful ceremony pictures.

Style Me Pretty

4- No-sew DIY table runners
The table runners at our wedding were a DIY project but were time-consuming to make because we sewed them. My friend Elizabeth also had DIY runners at her wedding but instead of sewing them, she simply used pinking shears to cut the fabric and left the edges raw. As you can see in the picture below, they looked great, especially in the bold chevron pattern.

5- birch table numbers
There are lots of ways to creatively display table numbers.
I love these ones made out of a sliced birch log, especially for a rustic wedding.

Oh baby!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!
Charlie certainly did.
He gained two new baby cousins on the 4th of July (welcome baby Lucas and baby Carter!) and he had his first visit and sleepover in NYC.

Speaking of the little guy, today I'm sharing his birth announcement:

I ordered the announcement here from Minted.com
It was hard to choose a design because they have so many great options.

When I received this frame in the mail from Change of Art (love a clever play on words), I decided to fill it with his announcement and hang it in his nursery:

It's not just an ordinary frame.
It allows you to change prints out by just sliding them in and out of the pocket pictured below.
Plus, it has a storage pocket for prints you aren't using.
I'm thinking of changing the photo monthly with Charlie's month to month pictures.

The frame also came with a hanging template, tape, a nail, AND a hanging button.

This company has seriously thought of everything to make the framing process easier.

Thank you Mary Ann for the frame!
I love it.

Below are some other cute birth announcement ideas that I've seen:

And I have to share this one we recently received in the mail from my friend Melissa:

How sweet is baby Hunter??
When she told me she took this picture herself, I couldn't believe it!
Looks so professional.

Have a great day :)
