Oh baby!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!
Charlie certainly did.
He gained two new baby cousins on the 4th of July (welcome baby Lucas and baby Carter!) and he had his first visit and sleepover in NYC.

Speaking of the little guy, today I'm sharing his birth announcement:

I ordered the announcement here from Minted.com
It was hard to choose a design because they have so many great options.

When I received this frame in the mail from Change of Art (love a clever play on words), I decided to fill it with his announcement and hang it in his nursery:

It's not just an ordinary frame.
It allows you to change prints out by just sliding them in and out of the pocket pictured below.
Plus, it has a storage pocket for prints you aren't using.
I'm thinking of changing the photo monthly with Charlie's month to month pictures.

The frame also came with a hanging template, tape, a nail, AND a hanging button.

This company has seriously thought of everything to make the framing process easier.

Thank you Mary Ann for the frame!
I love it.

Below are some other cute birth announcement ideas that I've seen:

And I have to share this one we recently received in the mail from my friend Melissa:

How sweet is baby Hunter??
When she told me she took this picture herself, I couldn't believe it!
Looks so professional.

Have a great day :)

Curtain call

Usually when I think of window treatments, I think $$$.
So for our master bedroom curtains, I decided to save ourselves a buck or two by making some out of a duvet cover that was no longer being used.

Thanks to a sewing lesson from my mom, she and I were able to whip these up in just one afternoon.

I also saved some money by using curtain rods we already had.

I didn't want the rod to span all of the windows so Chris shortened them using a hack saw.

Just a few more things to do in this room and it will be DONE!

To read about our window blinds as well other projects we have done so far in our master bedroom, you can go here, here, here, and here.

Have a great weekend!

A patriotic porch & some other July 4th inspired projects

In the spirit of the 4th of July, I'm sharing a look around my parents' porch which is sporting a patriotic red, white, and blue theme this summer.

It is by far our favorite "room" of the house:

Here are some other patriotic projects to get you in the spirit of things.
These red, white, and blue popsicles are super healthy:

I'd love to try this with Charlie:

Talk about an easy project that looks great.
These mason jar vases are simple and festive:

Master mini-makeover

This time last year, I shared a look around my parents' house including a peek at their master bedroom:

Well, there have been some changes since then.
By switching out some pillows, bedding, and accessories, the room has taken on a different look:

My mom made the patterned pillows and the khaki ones are Pottery Barn.

I liked their old bedding but I love the crisp navy blue and white on their bed now.

The striped throw blanket at the end of the bed is Nate Berkus for Target and can be found here.

A different mirror and some new accessories have freshened up this dresser.
The lamp is from Home Goods, the mirror was a Craigslist find, and the jewelry box was a tag sale purchase.

Since I love re-purposing things, I've taken the ticking stripe duvet cover that was on their bed and that was no longer being used and (with the help of my mom) have turned it into window treatments for our master bedroom

Once they're hung up, I'll share them with you!

Enjoy your day :)
